"The 12 Months of Languages": many stories... many cultures... many languages @ your local library is an initiative of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD), Barwon South Western Region and the Geelong Regional Libraries, aimed at providing the community in the City of Greater Geelong with experiences in multimodal and multilingual literacy. Each month, starting in February, an experienced teacher will conduct sessions and activities in one of the world languages. The languages chosen for 2010 include: Chinese, French, Indonesian, Italian, Aboriginal Languages, Auslan, Arabic, languages of India and many more. Whilst the target audience is the wider community, with a special focus on pre-schoolers and their parents, kindergarten and school groups are very welcome to attend the sessions.
