At the end of 2009 the Victorian School Languages agreed to take over the management of Languages Online. In the past few months there have been the following developments:

·  Four modules of beginner-level Chinese were added late last year. These include interactive tasks, print activities and downloadable MP3 and MP4 resources. The centrepiece of these resources is a video modelling key language.  Thanks to Hongxia Wei and Nancy for their work on these resources.

·  VATI (Victorian Association of Teachers of Italian) funded the development of a new Italian topic for Languages Online. This new module (No. 36) focuses on the present perfect. It includes the usual range of interactive tasks, printable worksheets as well as a short video and audio for download. Thanks to VATI President Ferdinando Colarossi for his support on this project.

·  We have also updated the system for adding accented letters in the later French, German and Italian topics. The new panel allows users to insert accented characters by simply clicking on the letter in panel (no more ALT key codes!).  Much easier to use, especially for laptops and IWBs.

·  The VSL is sponsoring work to convert the existing topics into the smaller community languages, many of which have no resources available at all. The first of these is Macedonian, with others to follow.
