Auburn High  School - looking for a  French/Science Secondary Teacher

Part time (0.8) fixed term position from  18/04/2017  to 17/04/2024, this vacancy is to replace an employee on parental absence for the remaining of the 2017 school year.

The successful applicant will be required to teach Science in the French binational program and also French language beginners. The  applicant must  be fluent in  French (native or near native proficiency). Holding French qualifications will be highly regarded.

Ethnic Schools Assocation of Victoria

Ethnic Schools Association of Victira (ESAV) represents over 200 community languages schools in Victoria. Community Languages Schools provide quality languages educational and cultural maintenance programs to over 36,000 students, (100,000 students nationally) in a range of 55 languages in Victoria. They are complementary providers of langauge education in mainstream schools.

ESAV is currently working in cooperation with Community languages Australia to enhance national conordination of community languages schools and develop national quality control frameworks and training opportunities.

Opportunities for trainers and RTO staff become available at times throughout the year depending on project and other initiatives.

Call for Expressions of Interest

Expressions of interest are being sought for three part-time / casual roles 

Position Number 1: - Sessional Trainter with a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) or Deploma Vocational Ed and Training

The role would involve training of languages teachers (methodology and practice) at a Certificate IV level. Sessions are held after hours (usually a Thursday evening with a very occasional Saturday). The trainer must have experienc ein teaching a language (primary, secondary, VSL or ethnic schools etc - and language). Previous training experience would be advantageous. Attributes required - strong interpersonal skills, organised, patient, flexible and team player. The role would involve training of teachers, some writing of training materials, assessment of students etc. Candidates will need a working with children check.

Position Number 2: - RTO Compliance Officer (part-time) approximately 6 hours per week until the end of the project, some after-hours availability required.

Position involves overseeing RTO and course compliance, developing documentation for an accreditation process, identifying areas of compliance, ensuring compliance requirements are met. Must have excellent people skills, team player, strong communication skills, be happy to roll up sleeves and develop documentation, proactive in approach to developing and responding to compliance requirements. Good understanding of CALD communities.

Postion Number 3: - Trainers. EOIs from casual trainers to assist with developing and implenenting training sessions specific to langagues teachers in 2017.

Candidates MUST have a strong languages teaching experience in primary and or secondary schools. A good understanding of the community languages sector is advantageous. Candidates must have experience in developing and implementing training materials for teachers to achieve strong training outcomes. Experience in EAL training settings is also advantageous. Must have excellent peiple skills, be a team player, strong English language communication skills, have some understanding of implementing various digitial tools in the languages classroom, also have a good understanding of CALD communities. Must be able to work after hours, usually evenings and the occasional weekend if required.

It is advantageous if candidates have a current working with children check.

2016-2017 Job Openings at Haileybury International School Tianjin (HIST)

HIST has been operating as an international school now in its 3rd year in the Wuqing District (administratively in Tianjin), serving Chinese nationals who are looking for an alternative pathway into tertiary education overseas via completing the VCE. The School currently has 650 students, and is projected to reach a student body of 900 by September, 2017.

We are looking for passionate Languages teachers to join the Languages Department for one or a combination of the following subjects:

  • *VCE Chinese First Language (2017 Aug start)
  • *VCE Japanese Second Language (2017 Aug start)
  • TESOL Teachers (Years 7-11) (2 for 2017 Jan start and 7 for 2017 Aug start)

Applicants must be a registered teacher, in China, Australia (any state) or another country.

* VCE experience is preferred, although not essential.

Contracts are usually 2 years (1-year contracts are also negotiable), with the option of renewal upon successful completion. Salary is competitive and comparable to Haileybury in Australia. However, as an international staff, international insurance and accommodation in a two-bed room apartment near the school are also included.
